Ok. I am soo excited!! I was able to ride my bike about 4km and I didn't get vertigo or fall down once! In the recent past, prior to my treatment, I would start to ride and then suddenly vertigo would hit me like a brick wall and I would fall over on my side. Not this time!!!!
My right leg is my weakest link right now and it did get tired and weak and it was hard to lift my right leg high enough to swing it over the seat and mount and dismount. I will keep working on getting more strength in my legs, especially the right one. I am still kind of in shock, really. This is way more than I had hoped for post op.
The temperature was pretty warm too and usually when I exert myself physically and work up a sweat my symptoms exacerbate and I get dizzy from the heat. This did NOT happen today.

Hey Ginger, Just watched your video. It was major Deja vu for me having been the 13th patient at Stanford. I've got three stents, am SP and have (had) almost the same gait as you. I don't limp anymore either except after being on my feet and walking for a while. Being SP, I don't know that will ever go away, but I'm just glad that I got stents. I, too, can't afford to just jet set around. I got the big ass stents too. I was a teaching moment out there as I got a pretty severe damaged nerve that is just now healing. I knew the guy with the migrating stent pretty well. He had FIVE placed at one time and the smaller one that was up high must have loosened up when the down low stenosis was fixed and it just broke loose. Well now that I'm about 9 months out, there's really no more danger as those stents line themselves with endothelial cells and the stent actually incoporates into your vein.
ReplyDeleteIt was great watching your video. So many of the same feelings. And the word Hope. I don't know if you've ever read "Man's Search for Meaning". It's a little short read but is all about the power of hope and how it is 'it' in terms of getting us through things like this, and in his case, Auschwitz. I highly recomment it. Be good and stay "open"! I don't know if you've checked my blog out, but just hit my icon and it'll take you there. Stay safe and be well girl!
that's really awesome. A bit jealous here but real happy for you. I have a real long list of things I want to do after liberation some day, hopefully soon. keeping hope alive, thanks a lot for blogging on your journey with ccsvi. It's really interesting and cool. congrats on the bike ride.

ReplyDeleteHi, I'm sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I read your blog and fantastic! You are probably going to run a marathon before we know it! Did you need to get extra health insurance before flying off to Poland? Did you do any checking as to what health Canada's stance of what's to happen when we get back? Have you heard of Dr. Vogl? If so, what. Do you know how long does a stent last? Do they require maintenance? You seem to be the expert on this issue, so I thought contacting you and getting the answers from you would probably be more effective.
Thanks for your advise,
Jennifer
